 This Semester:

September 15, 2009 - Mentors and Mentees Monthly Event

Our September 2009 event was a great way to kick off the new school year with both veterans and new faces in attendance. Special guest speaker Rose Estep Fosha led a discussion on what it means to be a mentor or mentee and the ladies played games like speed bingo and the M&M game to get to know each other. The night culminated in the ladies choosing their mentors and mentees and a visit to Armadillos for some ice cream.

October 6, 2009 - Mentors and Mentees Monthly Event

October's event was all about empowering women! Jeff Thayer of the Rapid City Police Department taught the M&M group several self-defense techniques and then had the ladies try the moves out on each other. Everyone left with a new set of survival skills and some street smarts to keep themselves safe.

October 27, 2009 - Mentors and Mentees Pumpkin Carving

The pumpkin carving event was frightful and delightful as the ladies ate ghastly treats and dismembered pumpkins at the Halloween themed event. First place went to Ashley Reed and Laura Clarke for their teamwork, creativity and presentation of their pumpkin.

November 3, 2009 - Mentors and Mentees Monthly Event

This event was all about kissing your stress goodbye. Guest speaker Peg Seljeskog led teh group through stress relief using the six senses (sight, sound, smell, feel, taste, and humor. The night was fun and everyone left with some tools to combat stress.

November 23, 2009 - Mentors and Mentees Decorate the Christmas Tree

The parade of trees committee met to handcraft ornaments that fit this years theme: "Through the eyes of a child." The tree was on display in the Ballroom from November 23-December 9th.

November 25, 2009 - Mentors and Mentees/SALC Dance Lessons

Students learned how to do the Waltz in order to prepare for the Sadie Hawkin's Dance in December.

December 1, 2009 - Mentors and Mentees Monthly Event

The December event was a relaxed evening featuring a white elephant gift exchange. Everyone brought cookies to share and took a few cookies home at the end of the night.

December 2, 2009 - Mentors and Mentees/SALC Dance

The Sadie Hawkin's Winter Wonderland Dance gave students the chance to have some fun before their finals week stress.
